Historic cable ratings victory for Fox News

NORVELL ROSE

It’s being called an “historic cable ratings victory for Fox News.” The outlet that’s either loved or hated by so many has literally trounced the competition, leaving them in the dust of a tremendous third quarter for FNC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

The last three months have been so big, Fox News Channel just clocked its first quarter with the most-watched primetime across all of cable in more than a decade — even besting USA and ESPN.
As breitbart.com observes:
For the third quarter of 2014, Fox News not only humiliated its leftwing cable news counterparts at CNN and MSNBC during the all-important primetime hours, Fox News also beat all of cable — all hundred or so cable channels, including perennial winners ESPN and USA.
One can only imagine what sort of hair pulling and teeth gnashing must be going on the MSNBC and CNN.
In total primteime viewers, Fox nearly doubled the leftwing CNN and MSNBC combined. In demo viewers, Fox earned almost as many as CNN and MSNBC combined. Fox is also up 12% over this same quarter last year. MSNBC sunk a whopping 21%.
TV Newser notes:
Six of FNC’s programs were number one in total viewers on all of basic cable during their timeslots for the quarter, including “Fox & Friends,” “America’s Newsroom,” “The Five,” “Special Report with Bret Baier,” “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” and “The O’Reilly Factor.”
“On The Record” was up +16% in total viewers and up +8% in the A25-54 demo. Both “The Kelly File” and “Hannity” had their best quarters in the demo for their timeslots since Q4 2012, which included the presidential election.
In reviewing the breathtaking numbers for Fox News’ big quarterly win, one is reminded of the relatively recent glee exhibited by the wishful Left, only months ago celebrating a ratings report that was then called “devastating for Fox News.”
Fox News has fallen and it can’t get up. Ratings for the month of May 2014, have just been published, and the numbers are devastating for Fox News. While still occupying the top slot among the cable news networks, Fox saw about a quarter of its audience dissolve across every demographic group and time period.
As Mark Twain once wryly observed: “The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”
